Occasionally you see people on Instagram describing gemstones as "candies"... I personally never have... but... A spectacular Burmese ruby cabochon looking for all the world like a strawberry Glacier Fruit (with a slight pinkish undertone). The stone is certified at 3.63 carats: natural, no heat treatment, origin Myanmar (Burma), intense red colour. It's set in a Victorian period cluster ring mount, with chunky old Euro diamond surround totalling over 1.75 carats. Unusually, for Burmese rubies, it possesses exceptional transparency (unheated stones from the region often display a "milky" appearance. French import marks (owl) indicate it was likely retailed in Paris.
