DATE: Victorian, c.1880

Regal Victorian opal and diamond oval cluster ring dating from the 1880s. The principal stone - a vibrant white opal cabochon with excellent play of colour - rests within a halo of peruzzi cut diamonds, the latter pre-dating the ring by at least 100 years. The shoulders feature deeply engraved scrolled motifs, and it's crafted in 18 karat gold throughout.
